The Sigma Tau chapter was established in September of 1900 as the second fraternity on the University of Washington campus. Our current house, where Fiji’s have resided for the last 80 years, is the cornerstone of Fraternity Row and right at the edge of campus. Our house has always strived to achieve excellence in a multitude of endeavors. Prior to 1950, 10 track captains, 10 basketball captains, and 7 football captains were Sigma Tau Fiji’s.
Four Fiji’s gave their lives in World War I and our house library serves as a memorial for the 15 young Fiji men who gave their life in World War II. We continue to support the same ideals of unity, scholarship, and excellence today. Along with 50 consecutive years above the all-men’s average, multiple members of our house have participated in Washington athletics.
At Sigma Tau, we strongly encourage our members to fully participate in the University of Washington experience. We attempt to disassociate ourselves with the “frat” stereotype by developing members in a way that will benefit the community in general and the University as a whole.
