Seattle Exchange - East

Past Development

1903

Independent Company established "East" manual office at 20th & Columbia.

1906

Pacific Company's "East" office was first established using CB manual type equipment at 1520 17th Avenue.

1912

The Pacific Company purchased The Independent Companies "East" office and consolidation of central offices was made and duplication of plant eliminated.

1914

Capital office was established in a new building at 1127 Federal Avenue to help serve East district.

1927

Two units of panel equipment were installed at 1708 East Pike to replace the CB manual type for East and Prospect units.

1932

The Capital office were converted from manual to panel type dial equipment at 1708 East Pike.

1947

Fourth unit started using No. 1 crossbar.

1958

2L-5N dialing was established.

1961

DDD/CAMA established.

1962

Second unit of #1XB (EA 9) started.

1963

ANI installed.
