The Marriage of Figaro
Before Mozart set it to music, this comedy of sex and errors was Beaumarchais' hilarious satire of aristocracy. EDS now presents it with maximum hilarity.
To sum up: The philandering Count Almaviva (Dylan Wilson) has grown bored after three years of being married to Countess Rosine (Sarah Borsic). His steward Figaro (Sam Hopkins) and maid Suzanne (Jacqueline Ma) are set to marry, but the Count has his eye on Suzanne and plots to exercise the right of the lord of the manor to bed his vassal's wife on her wedding night.
Helping further the Count's plan are Marceline (Liz Cady), the housekeeper who plots to make Figaro marry her; Dr. Bartholo (Daniel Mills), who hates Figaro for having swindled him; and Basil (Nathan Weizenbaum), music master and skeeze extraordinaire.
Making life interesting are Cherubino (Jenny Stewart), the page who loves all things female, Bridlegoose the clueless justice (Austin Kidd) and his ditzy assistant Doublefist (Jack Coughlin).
Complicated hijinks, significant amounts of BSing, and a lot of cross-dressing ensue.
