GSA Officers

The Graduate Council, as the executive committee of the Graduate Student Association, has the responsibility of coordinating and sustaining the student activities of the Graduate Student Association.

The four elected officers are:

GSA Chair - The GSA chair serves as the executive officer of the GSA. Duties of the chair include organization and leadership of meetings (usually 1-2 per quarter), delegation of tasks to officers, and serving as a point of contact for all events organized or co-organized by the GSA. The chair will ideally have at least one year of experience as a GSA officer and must understant the roles of all GSA officers and be familiar with all of the events coordinated by the GSA.

GSA Vice-Chair - The GSA Vice-chair serves as an assistant to the chair and as the financial coordinator of GSA, managing the budget and procurement of funding.

GSA Co-Chairs - As an alternative to a Chair and Vice-Chair, two individuals can equally share all of the duties of the two positions as co-chairs.

GPSS Representatives - The two Graduate & Professional Student Senate (GPSS) representatives are responsible for representing the EE graduate students in the GPSS by attending and participating in UW GPSS meetings and relaying information from the GPSS to the EE graduate students.

The appointed positions are:

Graduate Seminar Coordinator - The graduate seminar coordinator is responsible for organizing and running the EE 592 faculty research survey seminar held during autumn quarter and the EE 500 student research seminar held during winter and/or spring quarter.

Social Coordinators - The two social coordinators are responsible for organizing and assisting with the GSA Friday, end-of-quarter, and end-of-year socials.

GSA Webmaster - The GSA webmaster is responsible for maintaining the GSA website and updating the inforamtion as they see fit. The current version of the webpage uses basic HTML with CSS and Perl scripting, so the webmaster must be familiar with these tools or willing to learn how to use them or find an alternative.

Committee Representatives - Graduate students have the opportunity to serve on various committees through GSA. Examples include the Student Advisory Board, the Curriculum Committee, and the Awards Day Committee. Committee representatives are often graduate students who hold or have held positions as GSA officers.
