Ethics
Bowl at the April
28-29, 2006 |
The Ethics Bowl is an intercollegiate competition in ethical analysis. In the Ethics Bowl, teams of three to five undergraduates are posed questions on a wide range of ethical topics. Team responses are judged for soundness of reasoning, focus on ethically relevant factors, and deliberative thoughtfulness. We are pleased to announce that a regional version of the competition will be held at the University of Washington April 28-29, 2006.
Teams will receive the cases prior to the competition. On the day of the competition, teams will pair off and take turns presenting their responses to the cases in front of a panel of judges. There will be three rounds: an opening round of three matches per team, a semi-final round, and a final round. The rules and format will follow closely those of the Twelfth Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (see below for details). All teams are invited to stay and watch the semi-final and final rounds and to mark the occasion with a casual dinner and trophy presentation Saturday night. All teams are also invited to join us for a keynote address by Stephen Gardiner (“The Perfect Moral Storm”) and a reception on Friday evening, April 28.
