Safe in the City Dissemination Evaluation

I'm using this collaboration with Denver Health Department as my MPH Practicum work. The objective of this research is to evaluate the national dissemination , adoption and implementation of a new CDC intervention. The intervention is a waiting room video used by Sexuality Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinics. The results are used for the purpose of improving the targeting and marketing of future interventions.

Safe in the City is a 23-minute video targeting patients in STD clinic waiting rooms, comprised of 3 soap opera-type vignettes and 2 animated cartoons that depict condom negotiation skills. Safe in the City is a DEBI intervention, and is freely available to Clinics. In a large, multi-site, controlled study this intervention has been demonstrated to reduce incident STDs among individuals exposed to the video by 10%. The results were published in a recent issue of PLoS Medicine .
