Fall 2009
- This October 12th at 7pm in the Health sciences building in room T473, we will have our first DDS general meeting of the new school year.
- On October 22nd at 6:30pm DDS will be having an interview meeting. This meeting will be held in HSB T733, this time the room will be bigger.
- On November 17th DDS will have a meeting about the DAT presented by Kaplan at 7pm in the HSB T435.
Spring 2009
- DDS Scholarships-- Based on an essay competition, two scholarships will be awarded to two DDS members to help with the costs of the dental school application process.
Past Events
- Wax and Relax (May 28, 5:30 pm). This is your chance to try your hand at dental wax-ups while chatting with current UWSoD students about
life as a dental student. Food and fun included! Don't forget to RSVP here.
- Latina Health Fair at North Seattle Community College (May 16, 10 am- 3pm). Check out this link for more information.
- Predental Social & Elections-- Monday, May 11th (6:30 pm, HSB T531) Free food & fun, and a new DDS officers for 2009-2010-- congatulations to the elections winners! Best of luck to you next year.
- Kaplan Silent Auction (April 24th- May 8th)-- The Kaplan auction has ended. Congratulations to the highest bidder!
- Personal Statement Seminar-- Wednesday, May 6th (6:30- 8:00 pm, Kaplan Study Center, University Ave.) Learn how to pen a unique personal statment that will help you stand out from the crowd. This meeting is at the Kaplan Study Center and will be focused on personal statements for applications to programs in the health professions. Other pre-health club members will be in attendance, so this will be a great time to meet people who are interested in other health careers.
- ECOH Presentation-- Wednesday, April 22 (6:30 pm, HSB T739). Unfortunately this meeting was cancelled. The presentation will be given next academic year.
- AADSAS Dental Application and ASDOH Presentation Meeting-- Tuesday, April 7 (6:30 pm, T 739 HSB). This was a great, informative meeting about how to complete the AADSAS application. If you were unable to attend the meeting, or wanted to reference the slides presented, you can view them here. We also had a wonderful presentation from an ASDOH admissions officer, which was incredibly informative about this modern dental school, which values community service.
- Lunch with a Dentist-- First two weeks of March. A chance to sit down with a dental professional in a casual setting and ask any questions you may have about the dental profession.
- Dental Panel-- Tuesday, February 3rd (6:30, HSB T739). This was a great chance to get your questions about dentistry answered. We had a wonderful panel of knowledgeable guests and we were happy to see you there.
- The Kaplan auction has ended!
- ECOH Field Trip-- December 2. This was DDS members' first look at the new ECOH facilities at Magnuson Park. Those who were able to make it had a great time and found the trip to be very eye-opening. Stay tuned for more info on DDS/ ECOH involvement.
- General Meeting-- Tuesday, November 25 (6:30 pm, HSB 769).We had a fantastic General Meeting and hope that you were all able to attend. Dr. Jeremy Horst gave a great presentation about current research topics in dentistry and Matt Epstein introduced the UWSoD Student Research Group. If you are interested in viewing the slides Jeremy presented at the meeting, please e-mail the webmaster. Also, DDS officers presented a brief overview of dentistry and the path to a dental career.
- Interview Meeting with Kaplan-- October 23, 6:30 pm (HSB T739). This is a great opportunity to learn tips on how to ace that upcoming dental interview!
- DDS/ Kaplan Booth-- September 24th and 25th on the HUB lawn, 9:30 am- 2:30 pm. Stop by to chat with the officers and learn more about the club.
