DSA's mission statement: The Dance Student Association's mission is to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to be involved in the dance department at the University of Washington. Our activities include, but are not limited to: performance and choreographic opportunities, workshops with guest teachers, fundraising, leadership and administrative positions, and parties.

The Dance Student Association was formed three years ago to create performance opportunities for University of Washington students. It has evolved into an organization that also sponsors "master" classes given by visiting or community dance professionals for UW students, sets up "works in progress" events, and generally responds to the needs of University of Washington dance students.

The majority of DSA members are students who take classes from the Dance Department, but any UW student can join. The organization is headed by an elected executive board made up of interested students. Board meetings are open to all members and students. Those at the meetings set the agenda, come up with ideas, respond to suggestions, organize events, and take care of the DSA's business. While it is not necessary to attend the meetings to be a member, the organization cannot exist without your input. Organization updates, events, and notices are e-mailed via our distribution list. In the past three years, DSA has sponsored master classes with local and international performers, presented brown-bag lunches on dance opportunities, and sponsored a yearly spring show, SPIN. Last year, SPIN was a huge success, selling out both nights; this year, we hope to extend SPIN even further as well as present other performance opportunities. DSA's activities depend on the people involved; if there is something dance-related you want to see happen at the UW, please get involved!
