So, I skipped a week of Senate, but I get the strong feeling I didn’t miss anything. This last meeting was especially entertaining. We were still discussing the legislative agenda, which we finally passed. I have the feeling very few changes were made in the three (or four, maybe) meetings we discussed it. I feel like a little piece of my soul was slowly tortured to death, devoured by the painful meaningless of the debate. But since I don’t really use my soul, you’ll all be relieved that I survived.
My favorite part was when we spent maybe twenty minutes debating the placement of a specific bullet point; when someone finally thought to ask about the position, we discovered which heading the bullet is located under will not affect the overall meaning of the document. Although everyone was then aware that the organization simply organized the document and didn’t really mean anything, we still had to debate moving TWO other bullet points. Thankfully, it finally ended and the legislative agenda passed, which means our lobbyists in Olympia will support or oppose a lot of things; I’m sure it is on the Senate website.
