Honors Croquet League

Senate Reports

The Honors Croquet League Senate prank was a success, and croquet has surely left its mark on this student government body. With the aid of Senate Vice Chair/HCL Member Karl Smith (465) and Senate Secretary/HCL Member Alex Kim (328), I was able to have the Senate gavel switched with a mallet. The Senate Chair opened this past Tuesday’s meeting with the croquet mallet while a ransom resolution was displayed at the front of the room for all to see. The gavel is currently in safe possession of the Croquet League and will be returned to the Senate Chair at Saturday’s All-Campus Tournament.

The ransom resolution reads as follows:

A Resolution Regarding the Ransom for the Senate Gavel

WHEREAS the Senate Chair is on the receiving end of a prank pulled by the Honors Croquet League, and

WHEREAS the Senate gavel has been switched with a croquet mallet, and

WHEREAS the Honors Croquet League’s Fifth Annual All-Campus Tournament is on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 1 pm at Parrington Hall, and

WHEREAS the All-Campus Tournament was endorsed by the ASUW on May 10, 2005 in Resolution R-11-35;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HONORS CROQUET LEAGUE

THAT the Senate Chair, Zachary Tobin, attend the Honors Croquet League’s Fifth Annual All-Campus Tournament to retrieve the Senate gavel, and

THAT with prior approval, a proxy may be sent in the Senate Chair’s place should he be unable to attend the All-Campus Tournament.

See y’all Saturday.
