Honors Croquet League

Senate Reports

Previous May 8, 2005 Next

Resolution R-11-35 in support of the All-Campus Tournament was submitted two weeks ago with some bit of computer drama. The moment I submitted the document online, a glitch occurred and the resolution was almost lost in the Senate’s database. Luckily, the document was recovered. Unluckily, I am unable to modify co-sponsors myself, so any additions to the list I will have to email to the Senate Secretary and Member 328. If any more people would like to co-sponsor this legislation, please let me know ASAP. All I need is your name and your consent. Nothing else required. I am expecting it to go on the floor this coming Tuesday at the earliest. Most likely the one after.

Speaking of upcoming events, ASUW elections begin Monday. You can learn more and vote online at elections.asuw.org.

It may be student government but the elections are quite important. A lot of familiar activities, organizations, etc. are handled by ASUW. Not to mention student fees go into it. That said, as most of you may know the Honors Croquet League has officially endorsed Karl Smith (465) for Operations. I would also like to add my personal endorsement of the entire Represent ticket on which Karl is running. This is a great ticket whose candidates are from diverse parts of the campus community (res halls, greek system, commuters, etc.).

One more thing. Elections for our league are fast approaching, and it is time to think about potential new officers. As many know, I will be graduating this quarter, and this is probably the first time in the League’s three years of holding a Senate seat that we do not know of anyone who would be interested in running. If you believe you may be interested in being the Croquet League senator, being involved in student government, or even if you need a little something extra to put on your résumé then please do consider running.

And as always, if you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or you want to talk student government, send an email or come by my office hour on Tuesdays, 11:30–12:30.
