Wow, two reports in a row? Am I slipping back into my old habits of boring Senate reporting that no one cares about? Never fear! I’m not slipping into my old habits, and hopefully what I am reporting on this time is not boring.
The legislation I spoke of last week was presented to us today for the first time. An Act to Create the ASUW Power Struggle, I feel, is very much in line with the spirit of the League. I mean, we don’t want a Senate that is too serious. Oh no! That is just a recipe for way too much wankery. Besides, it even lists croquet as one of the contests the ASUW heirarchy will partake in.
For those of you who have read/are reading this act, you will note that there is no mechanism in place for officiating. I posed this question to the sponsor who replied that this can be amended at the next readings. There has been mention of the Honors Croquet League providing referees or judges to the croquet portion, which I am in favor of. However, how comfortable does this sound for the League? Do we want to send officials to the ASUW power struggle? In theory, I could volunteer my services as an individual familiar with croquet but I fear being accused of bias seeing as I am a member of Senate with little affiliation with the BoD.
That’s all I have. Hope you all have a happy winter break and see you at the Biathlon of Obscure Sports.
