An Act to Create the ASUW Power Struggle

WHEREAS, the Student Senate and Board of Directors have, in the past, come into conflict, and;

WHEREAS, humor is an effective method of diminishing tension and perceived conflicts, and;

WHEREAS, this year's Board of Directors and Student Senate enjoy a great working relationship and mutual respect,

BE IT ENACTED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON STUDENT SENATE:

THAT, all the student members of the ASUW Board of Directors are invited to the ASUW Power Struggle at a date agreed upon by the Student Senate Vice-Chair and the ASUW Vice President, and;

THAT, the date of the ASUW Power Struggle shall occur during the second half of Winter Quarter or the first half of Spring Quarter, at a time selected by the Student Senate Vice-Chair and the ASUW Vice-President, and;

THAT, the ASUW Power Struggle shall include, but is not limited to, the following events, the specifics of which will be negotiated by the ASUW Vice President and the Student Senate Vice-Chair:

1. A game of football,

2. A match of croquet,

3. A game of gluttony, such as an eating contest, and;

THAT, the teams shall be as follows:

Team BoD:

1.) ASUW President (Captain)

2.) ASUW Vice-President

3.) ASUW Personnel Director

4.) ASUW Finance and Budget Director

5.) ASUW Director of Operations

6.) ASUW Director of Diversity Efforts

7.) ASUW Director of Community Relations

8.) ASUW Director of Organizational Relations

9.) ASUW Director of Programming

10.) ASUW Director of Faculty, Administration, and Academic Affairs

Team Senate:

1.) Senate Chair (Captain)

2.) Senate Vice-Chair

3.) Senate Membership Coordinator

4.) Senate Secretary

5.) Academic Affairs Committee Chair

6.) General Affairs Committee Chair

7.) Faculty and Administrative Affairs Committee Chair

8.) Campus Affairs Committee Chair

9.) Publicity and Outreach Committee Chair

10.) Off-Campus Student Affairs Committee Chair

THAT, the captain of the losing team must kiss the gavel of the winning team the subsequent meeting of the opposing team and the following rewards shall apply:

1.) Should Team Senate win, Team BoD will appear at the following Senate meeting and sing "Bow Down to Washington" while wearing hats of Team Senate's choosing.

2.) Should Team BoD win, the Senate Chair and Vice-Chair will appear at the following Board of Directors meeting wearing outfits of Team BoD's choosing.
