Senate Reports

Previous November 10, 2004 Next

Here we are into the second month of Senate, and I still don't really have anything to report. Again, if you want to know the detailed happenings of student government visit the Senate website, email me, or come chat with me during my office hour (Tuesdays 12:30-1:30 pm). And again, the latter two also apply if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions on how to keep myself entertained during dragging meetings.

I would now like to thank everyone who attended the Faculty Croquet Match on Saturday and signed the petition in support of the presence of the HCL in Senate. Just remember to check the insurance/optional charges page on MyUW to make sure you are an ASUW member. Remember, it's the only free thing on that page.

At this same match, I was asked by a league member as to how I went about making decisions in Senate. Do I take advantage of my position and just vote however the hell I want or what?

I will assure you, just as I assured this member, that I do try to take the interests of the League into consideration when I vote. True, I do not really have a way of knowing the position of the HCL on every issue that comes up nor, as I know from previous experience, does everyone care to read mundane reports every week and respond. But I am aware of the general values of the League and have been around long enough to know what is or is not within the spirit of the League, and I try my best to act accordingly. I am also horrible about arbitrary decision-making, especially if it potentially involves the interests of others. Never ask me to do it because I have some physical inability to do so. Seriously.

Hope to see y'all at the next match.
