May 6, 2003
The bulk of this week’s meeting consisted of one minute campaign speeches and question/answer sessions by people running for ASUW office. Speaking of which, ASUW elections are May 13-15, and you can vote online from MyUW or at the ASUW elections website where you can also go to find more information on the candidates.
Senate Stuff
We passed R-9-46, A Resolution in Support of the University Compensation Principle, and SB-9-12, A Bill to Increase Senate Officer Accountability. We also took a look at R-9-40, A Resolution Supporting Advance Notice of Courses Required for Graduation, and SB-9-14, A Bill to Add New Seats to the Student Senate.
Other Stuff
- There have been some policy changes made including one about the use of food as a means of fundraising. This means no more selling Krispey Kremes or vagina cookies. Of course given that the Honors Croquet League has yet to actually hold any sort of fundraising event, it’s not like it really hurts us much but good to know for future reference.
- The U-Bookstore trustee application deadline has been extended to next Friday (due at the ASUW office). If given this position, you will own a share of the UBS, get free dinner after each monthly meeting, and “generous” UBS discounts.
