- Dr. Bridges, dean and vice provost, came to let us know that he'll be sending out a letter soon regarding UW's over-enrollment problem. Basically, they plan on cutting the number of incoming students and enforcing a policy that requires students with more than 210 credits and haven't applied to graduate to meet with their advisors to formulate a plan towards graduating within two quarters of that meeting.
- Speaking of getting students to graduate, there's a tuition surcharge bill in Olympia right now. What it does: If you have over 120% of graduation credits but aren't looking to graduate anytime soon, you will very likely have to pay more money.
- Plasma TV screens will be put in the HUB. Some will be devoted to corporate ads, but the guy who's in charge of this is working on limiting the ads to those franchises that are on campus such as Subway, Pagliacci's, and whatever's at 8.
- LOBBY DAY, IS THIS THURSDAY!!! There will be a free breakfast and registration in the HUB West Ballroom in the morning, and then we're leaving at 11 am (meet in front of Parrington). Croquet will be played, free lunch will be served, lobbying will be taking place, and the faculty should have received an email from the Faculty Senate chair encouraging them to excuse students for this event. Did i mention free food and croquet?
- There has been a resolution debated for a month about putting the issue of selling student directory info to the credit card company (MBNA) on the ballot in the ASUW elections in May. It failed tonight for the reason that while an initiative on this is ideal, it's not practical especially since we've taken too long to form an opinion on this issue already.
