About the club

The Climbing Club at UW is a student organization focused on hiking, climbing, and backcountry skiing. The club's main purpose is to provide members with opportunities for meeting people and resources for planning trips into the mountains.

Members have all different levels of experience and many different interests. Beginners are encouraged to join! You do not need to attend meetings to take advantage of what else the club has to offer.

Membership is open to UW students, faculty and staff. Members enjoy:

  • Many partners to do trips with, of all experience levels
  • A myriad of Club Events - meetings, workouts, slide shows, etc.
  • Access to the Club's web forums, calendar, newsletter and phonebook
  • Use of the Club's extensive collection of maps and guidebooks
  • Checking out gear from the Club and the IMA free of charge

Read more about joining the Climbing Club, and please read the FAQ, too.

Climbing is Dangerous
Climbing is inherently dangerous and the risk of death or serious injury can never be completely eliminated. It is up to each individual to make his or her own choices regarding acceptable risk.
