Jim,

Good post. Though I would argue that its a must read for anyone doing serious amounts of ice and mixed climbing. I will certainly be looking at my crampons more closely!

I was pretty sure most of the claims BD made on the stainless crampons were BS. But the fact remains that the Sabertooths are awesome crampons that fit my boots (and Grace's) much better than any of the petzl models I have tried... I'll have to find a place where I can try on some Grivels.

I agree, I've never had a pair of crampons fit, or climb like my Sabertooths. I'm not a hard user, so i'm not super concerned, but I will be checking them more carefully...
