Nathan and I am planning to make a day-trip out to Vantage this Sunday. The end to the rock climbing season is rapidly approaching (hooray for skis!) but until then, I going to try to squeeze another day out on some rock over in the Sunshine Wall area.

For this trip, I am going to ask that everyone at least has experience climbing in a gym and top-rope belaying. I’ll likely put together a club trip this spring for people that have little to no experience climbing. That said, if you have only gym climbed before, this would be a perfect chance to try climbing on real rock before it freezes over.

I’d like to keep the trip open to as many new(ish) climbers as possible, but how many can come will depend upon how many rope-leaders (and gear they can bring along with them) also come along.

We’ll all meet up at the Ravenna/65th and I-5 Park and Ride at 6:30 am on Sunday to carpool. That will get us to Vantage by 9:30 and climbing by 10:00 am. Right now Sunday is forecasted to be sunny and in the low 50’s; which in Vantage means good comfortable climbing!

You will need:
Day pack with extra layer, food and water (we will hike in ~20 min to climb)
Harness and personal gear
Rock shoes
Helmet!

If you are interested in coming along respond with;

1. If you can drive and how many passengers you can take
2. Your experience on rock
3. What gear you can contribute

I want to climb!

1. I can drive and take Nathan and two more.
2. I lead up to 5.10 sport/5.8 trad
3. I can bring a rope (Nathan’s), draws (also Nathan’s) and a trad rack.

A couple new UWCCer's will join us (Oliver and Anna)
1. They can drive and take 2 more

I'd really like to go, but I can't drive and it seems like there isn't anymore space in the car. :( Is there anyone else who is planning to drive there? I'd really appreciate a ride!

I can lead up to 5.10 sport, probably bout 5.9 on trad, i've only got my own harness and climbing equipment, don't have anything else though.

Can I put my self down as tenative? I would like too, but might be tired after the Ice trip. I will decide after I get back on Saturday.

1. I can drive and take 3.
2. I've done very little outdoor climbing. Mostly gym boudering. I have led 5.8 in a gym though.
3. I can bring a rope, but no draws. I would love to clean some easy trad routes if possible.

I'm in the same boat as Kurt -- I'd love to go, but I'm not sure what I'll feel like after ice climbing

1. I can drive, but as stated on the ice climb forum, the car has a light on that I haven't gotten checked out so if I can avoid driving, it'd probably be best.
2. I've done a decent amount of outdoor climbing, but have not lead (would love to lead an easy sport route if Vantage offers them)
3. No gear except for personal gear (helmet, shoes, harness, ATC)

I plan on going. I can drive but would prefer not to. I've got all my own personal gear, including a rack, and I can probably bring an extra rope, harness, helmet, and several pairs of mens and womens shoes.

I'd like to lead some of the classic crack climbs out on the sunshine wall and would be happy to do some sport leading as well, up to maybe hard 5.11.

Hey...
As established at pub night, I would love to go if there's a place for me in a car. I have no rope. I plan to rent other gear.

Let me know if a spot opens up in someone's car.

Little experience outdooor climbing but have general climbing/belaying knowledge

Hey count Mark and me in too! We have all of our own personal gear and between us we have two ropes and enough for two sport racks. I lead up to 5.10 sport and Mark up to 5.9. I would love to play around on a couple of trad routes if given the opportunity. Also it would be much appreciated if we could get a ride with someone. :D

Count me in! I can drive with room for me +3. I've climbed real rock before and can lead 5.9 sport, but have no trad experience. I have my own shoes, harness, belay device, draws and rope.

I'm definitely interested. I have no car, climb about 5.9/5.10-ish. Experience cleaning sport and trad routes and lead belaying with a grigri. I have all personal gear (harness, atc, shoes, loop chain, backup rappel sling, helmet), but no rope, draws, or rack. I've rapped once and could use some pointers on that. If in the event space fills up, and there's no room for me, that's OK too since I probably should do some work this weekend anyway.... :|

I'd like to come - can offer rope & (trad) rack. I could do with a few more draws for well bolted routes though! No car, need a ride.

Hey if there's still room I'm interested.

I can drive and fit up to 4.
I can comfortably climb a 5.9 outdoors, and would love to get more experience belaying.

Matt
