I don't have an aversion to the UWCCers who are going to scramble up Vesper this weekend, but since I've already climbed Vesper a half dozen times, I was thinking of going on some other trip over the weekend. At this moment I have my eye on tank lakes (a moderately difficult hike with a moderate amount of off-trail hiking). I'd also be up for a climb or scramble. Anyone interested?

Hi Justus,

Cashmere would be cool, but it is too long to do in one day (17 miles round trip, 5700 ft elevation gain, and 3 hour drive each way). I believe there are only two reasonable options for this climb

1) we left this afternoon, camped at EightMile, climbed on saturday, and returned saturday night
2) climb Cashmere over two days (saturday and sunday)

I believe option 2 would be the best. Can you do either option? If not, are there any other trips you'd like to do?

I can't do any of your options. Yeah, Cashmere might be somewhat long but is frequently done in a day. I might be willing to switch to doing something in the Enchantments or Teanaway (Earl, Bean, Volcanic Neck).

I see a loop hike of 11 miles in the 75 scrambles book, that climbs Bill, Bean, and Volcanic Neck. That looks like fun. If you are still interested in doing this tomorrow, give me a call at 206-302-8795 and we'll arrange plans.

I would highly suggest this loop in that area:

Bill is a worthy objective, but the ridge from Bean to Earl is very fun, and then its a walk down from there.

But really you can't go wrong in the Teanaway!
