Buffalo Run Restaurant, Marblemount:

Mel, Kris, Annelisa and I stopped there last weekend on our way back from Mazama. The food was only slightly above average in my estimation, but they do offer a considerable variety of choices, including an entire menu page of vegetarian options. They also offer elk, buffalo, ostrich, and venison burgers along with standard fare. Be warned however, that basically everything on their menu save the lunch items are very expensive for post-climbing food. Dinner entrees ranged from 15-30 dollars. Fortunately, their more reasonably priced lunch menu is available all day, and includes the burgers and sandwiches of various animal meats mentioned above.

Huh, that's where Ian, Zoey, Nathan, Val, Sarah, Frank, and I ate too on Sunday. They played some terrible music (3 tracks on repeat) that had all of us cringing, especially Nathan and Ian. Good food though. Strangely, the guy at the restaurant told us to come back again when we have more money. We were all confused as what to make of that.

OK, I wasn't quite sure if I had heard that comment correctly or not, but I guess I did. A$$hole.

Do you think it was the owner of the place? Guy in his 50s or 60s, gray hair, maybe a beard? I overheard him bragging to the loggers when we were there about how much he drinks and drives and that the sheriff can go fuck himself if he's got a problem with that, or something to that effect.

You should go to Petersburg... I think at least once a week I heard some sort of comment about someone "getting their swerve on"

Well, you seriously do need money to eat any of the "dinner" items. It's a true mark of a great resteraunt when you can get a bottle of bud light for $4.50. I say walk across the street to the shell and pick up a six pack. If you do stop there though, that shell has an outrageous selection of beer.

Kind of getting off topic, but I haven't been, to the ram for 3 years because when I went there it was pretty bad imho (food and overpriced beer). Sorry if i'm steppin on any toes... I'd be happy to be proven wrong in a few weeks...

Check out Birdsview brewing company next time you are heading back from Marblemount. It is a very small brew pub with a lot of character and really delicious, inexpensive pub fare. The pub is located in one yurt with the brewery in an adjacent yurt. The owners are almost always present and will gladly give a brewery tour. If you have an enormous appetite after a long climb, try the jalapeno burger; you will not be disappointed.
