It sounds like the the Mountaineers are supporting designating the Bachelor Creek Trail a Class 1 Wilderness trail, which would allow trail crews to go back and clean up the damage from the avalanche. To see the original post, go .

Keep in mind two things:
1. This Environmental Assessment is primarily in regards to road access in the Suiattle watershed. Trails are only mentioned in so far as roads that access them which may be proposed for decommissioning. In commenting, it would be helpful to acknowledge that this is not exactly within the scope of the EA. The EA appears well-written and a few minutes spent reading about the proposed action would be time well spent.
2. Via third-hand accounts, the Darrington District had contracted to have Bachelor Creek logged/brushed out prior to the 2003/2005 floods that cut access to the Downey Creek TH. Once that is restored, the District may already be planning to conduct fairly aggressive maintenance on the trail.
