We found some ice!! The Baker ski resort has a few areas that are climbable most of the winter. Best of all, you can top-rope these climbs to get some practice on the ice. Saturday, we got some practice at Pan Dome Falls. This is a WI 3+/4 that can be top-roped with two 60 m ropes and 5-10 meters of addition rope for an anchor. To get there follow the Austen Pass road (closed to traffic in winter) beyond the upper parking lot for about 10 minutes and the falls will be visible on your left. We contiued further up the road and then traversed the top of the cliff to set the top-rope. The condition of the ice was not ideal and deteriorated throughout the day, but we still had a great time!

Here I am on the lower section of the route. It became more and more brittle throughout the day. Luckily we were just top-roping.
