cool. Did it go pretty fast? I seem to be terribly slow at aid climbing... No pressure to free climb and I kinda zone out. haha

It defenitely wasnt fast, but i wasnt trying to be. I was basically in my own little world whistling and humming the whole time. I really enjoyed myself

I have some that I picked up last winter, but I didn't have the nerve to give them a trial by fire.

Nice job Jason, glad you are out putting what we learned in the class into practice. By offsets, do you mean HB style offset nuts, and if you do, can I borrow them at some point?

Maybe this should go under trip planning but I would really like to go with someone and spend a few hours dinking around just like that. Does anyone else, especially those who just finished the aid class, feel like joining me on Thursday? Other than Thin Fingers, does anyone have a suggestion for a really crusier pitch to do as my first ever aid lead to work up to City Park? Rack suggestions? Anyway, just throwing that out there.

yep, HBs. You could definitely borrow them some time. You can still buy the brassies online from yosemite mountain shop you know?

I recommend City Park as a warmup to City Park. It's about as friendly a first aid pitch as you can get, since it starts with a bolt ladder, has consistently bomber gear, and is steep enough that you won't get hurt if you pull a piece. Just bring extras of small nuts and a cam hook or two. Cam hooks, btw, are awesome.

Iron Horse or Stern Farmer are good second pitches, or Thin Fingers on a day when you won't clog up the free climbing queue.

Jason: Thats cool, I thought those HBs were completely unavailable so I was waiting until the DMM aluminum ones come out latter this year. What sizes did you find most useful? Do you or could imagine wanting doubles, and for the full range or down to what size?

Ralph: Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I was just not sure how much small and tiny gear it takes, but maybe I should just give it a go.

size 5 and 6 seem like they could go in almost everywhere on the route. 4 and 7 probably had a few options too. Doubles would be awesome, but it might even make the route too easy!
