Seeking reprieve from the rains in Washington, Val and I headed to Bozeman to meet up with friends Craig and Denise to swing some ice tools. This was my first trip to climb *real* water ice (not that thin, delaminated veneer we get occasionally in WA). I had a blast, but was amazed at how quickly the difficulty of vertical ice increases with grade. Time to do more pullups!
