Silver falls is a great place for a leisurely hike amid spectacular northwest scenery. I think the "long" loop is ~7 miles, and it takes you past 5-6 stunning waterfalls. Ignore the random photos of family antics.

Beautiful. I haven't been beyond the Columbia Gorge, but I guess Oregon is just generally well waterfall-endowed.

Jim, My guess is no. It's a lot of free-falling water, and the elevation there is really low. probably 1000' or less. Some of the smaller falls (which abound) might be climbable during a cold-snap though.

I've been there at the beginning of january. There was some snow on the ground but no signs of any falls freezing. Maybe a real coldspell
