How is it possible that threads are receiving hundreds to thousands of views lately? Carl just posted a thread today (July 4) and already his thread has over 500 hits. The Weeknights at X32 has over 100,000 hits. Do we have a bunch of bots running rampant on the forum? Which might explain why the forum sometimes doesn't accept users connecting to it? Anything that can be done about it?

That would make sense. I've been seeing that "too many connections" screen pretty frequently. There are definitely steps that can be taken to block them (IP bans, adjusting technical access settings for the URL, etc.), but for the most part the administrator of the forum has to be the one doing it. Here's a good link.
