Please friends, please. Be sure to continually examine your belaying skills, and communication with your partner. Too many have died, been injured, lost spleens. Please talk with strangers, or friends, more or less 'experienced' than you if you see them belaying in manners that are known to be unsafe (taking break hand off, hand-over-hand lowering and many others).
Do this even if it might feel awkward or you feel like a Douche to them.

Incredible that he survived. Must have been that the belayer just barely caught him right at the end of the fall... Still unbelievable.
