Never climbed ice before? This is the perfect time to come try out ice climbing.

Where: Coleman Glacier, Mt. Baker
Approach beta: distance ~2.5 mi and 1800 ft of vertical gain

When: Saturday, October 18 (Snow or Shine)
Leave: 6 AM (be there at 5:50 AM) Burke Museum (for those driving cars to the Burke, we'll swing by the Park and Ride at 65th to drop off any extras)

Requirement: You should know how to belay. Experience on snow/glaciers is a plus, but not required.

Required Gear (a lot of this can be borrowed from the IMA):
warm clothes
helmet
harness
crampons (steel)
ice ax (or ice tools – I will bring all the club tools)
stiff boots (hiking boots are not sufficient). The club has a small selection of boots or they can be rented from stores in Seattle
food and water (hot drinks are nice to have)
sun block
sun glasses
dry clothes for the ride home

Optional Gear:
Climbing Rope
Ice screws
Gear to build anchors
Trekking poles (recommended)

If you’re coming post:
1. If you can drive and how many passengers you can take
2. Experience on ice and glaciers

Carpool list

2. I have spent a lot of time on glaciers and climbing ice (leading to AI3)

I suppose I should get some use out of the ol' Alp Wings.

I can drive and take 3 other passengers.
I've done a fair bit of glacier travel, but no ice climbing.

Sounds like a good idea, would like to get into the ice climbing game again. I'm not a beginner per se, but I'd like to pick up on some pointers and get some practice.

1. I have a car. 3 passenger, better if they are dwarfs.
2. Lots of glacier experience. Experience leading up to WI4 (but it's been a few years).
3. Have extra size 9 boots and crampons.

You know I'm in.

1. I can drive and take another person or two with lots of gear in the back of the truck, but prefer to grab a ride

2. A good amount of glacier travel, and one day of ice climbing under my belt with a knowledgeable guide :)

I'd definitely like to join.
1. I would need a ride.
2. I have glacier travel experience, but have never climbed ice.

I'll be there.

1. I can take 2 passengers or 3 squished passengers.

2. I have lots of glacier experience, but just a little experience top-roping ice.

Count me in.

I may have a car (driver +2) if really needed.

I have done some ice climbing before. I have experience with placing ice screws, and crevasse rescue.

I would love to try out some ice climbing, may I come along? I have some glacier travel experience, no ice climbing experience, but plenty of belay experience. Unfortunately I have no car so I would need a ride.

I'll be there. Got some glacier travel experience, and I climbed on that same glacier last weekend with Jim.

I have a car that can take 3 others, 2 if there's lots of gear.

I'd love to try ice climbing.

I don't have a car.

I have no experience with glaciers or ice climbing, but I just passed my belay exam at the IMA.

I'd like to join this Saturday.

1. I have a car with room for me plus 3

2. I have glacier travel experience but no ice experience

I have one extra pair of size 9 1/2 boots which will take a semi-automatic crampon, but I have no ice tools and thus would need to borrow a pair. I do have 2 ice axes with leashes if that helps...
