For all those who wondered what it's like conducting fish snorkel surveys, I now have photographic documentation of the process. I used a soft ewa-marine case for my SLR, which worked great went it wasn't fogging up...
The Quinault River was surveyed as a control for the long-term Elwha River project (which we surveyed in 2007 & 2008), where two dams are to be removed in the next couple years as the core of an unprecedented watershed restoration effort.

Where are the pictures of the lunkers? you know 18"+ monsters that put up a great fight, and taste delicious. Would you be willing to share the beta on which holes and stretches had the most fish?

Let the dams fall!!!
