The Networking Day Vision
The Networking Day is a full-day event during which employers from industry and national labs are invited to the University of Washington to learn about undergraduate and graduate students' research and skills. Students present their research in a 15-minute talk and/or a poster. Students also host lab tours, allowing employers to see first-hand the cutting-edge research that takes place at the University of Washington. At the end of the day, there is a poster/recruiting session, where employers and students can network and exchange information.
The Networking Day format has a number of distinct advantages over the typical career fair:
Students
- Students are provided a forum for their work.
- Students can consider a wide range of employment options.
- Students are able to network with professionals from both industry and national laboratories.
Employers
- Employers have the opportunity to meet informally with many students.
- Employers are introduced to the diverse array of skills and expertise that UW physics graduates possess.
- Employers can develop and foster research partnerships with the UW Department of Physics.
