Chinese Christian Crusade Constitution

Article 1.       Name
The name of this organization shall be Chinese Christian Crusade (CCC).

Article 2.       Statement of Purpose
Sharing the love of Jesus Christ through serving others, witnessing our faith, discipling and encouraging believers, and praying for one another, with emphasis on Cantonese-speaking students.

Article 3.       Affiliations
Affiliated to Seattle Chinese Alliance Church for support, resources, and spiritual guidance.

Article 4.       Statement of Faith

  1. There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  2. Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, is one with the Father, who for all humanity and its salvation, came from heaven, incarnated by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; He died for our sins, was buried, and risen on the third day according to the Bible, and ascended into heaven; He shall return to judge the world and establish His eternal Kingdom of righteousness and peace.
  3. The Holy Spirit, a divine person, is one with the Father and Son.
  4. The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God.
  5. Disciples of Jesus Christ are commanded by Him, and empowered by Holy Spirit, to be His witness to the ends of the earth.

Article 5.       Membership

  1. Officers: They shall be currently enrolled University of Washington (UW) students, and Active members. Except for the founding board of officers, they shall be elected at the Annual Election.
  2. Participating members: participation in CCC activities may be extended to any interested person regardless of racial, gender, cultural, social, or economic orientation. The chief coordinator, and chairperson of individual meetings reserve the right to assist in removing any element deemed disruptive to any CCC gathering.
  3. Active members: Participating members who accept the Statement of Faith given in Article 4, having attended 50% of the CCC gatherings of the past quarter, shall be Active members. Only Active members, currently enrolled at UW, are eligible to vote.

Article 6.       Officers

  1. Qualification: All officers have to be Active members. Any office left vacant shall be filled by nomination by the remaining officers.
  2. Term: The term of office for all elected officers shall begin on the first day of the Autumn quarter following the Annual Election, and shall last for one year. The tenure of office for each elected office shall be no more than two consecutive years.
  3. Offices: The board of officers shall consist of the following offices: Chief coordinator: initiate programs on a general basis, and act as an equipper and spirit resource of CCC. Treasurer/Secretary: oversee all financial activities and record all meeting minutes (if any); accountable to the board of officers. Social/Recreation coordinator: coordinate various arrangements for social/recreation activities. Publicity coordinator: notify and coordinate participating members of various CCC activities. General Manager: arrange meeting facilities and acquire necessary supplies for the operation of CCC. Officer(s)-at-Large: the necessity of this office shall be determined by the existing board of officers. the number of officer(s)-at-large shall be no more than five.
  4. Removal of Officers: An officer who fails to carry out his/her entrusted duties, or because of the lapse of UW student status. could be removed from office. This decision shall be made by the rest of the board of officers.

Article 7.       Elections

  1. Annual Elections of officers shall be held, in the Spring quarter, except when an office is left vacant in the middle of the year; in which case, the vacant office shall be filled as outlined in Article 6. This Annual Election shall be announced in the beginning of the Spring quarter.
  2. A period of at least two weeks shall be allowed for nomination. Nominations shall be made no later than ten days before the Annual Election. Nominations shall be made, with the nominee's consent, by either an Active member or the existing officers.
  3. Officers shall be elected as members of board of officers. Specific offices shall be determined by the newly elected board of officers.

Article 8.       Meetings
Meetings shall include, but not limited to, weekly outreach luncheons, prayer meetings, workshops, seminars, and other outreach social activities.

Article 9.       Amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws
Modifications of this Constitution must have unanimous vote of board of officers.

Article 10.     Ratification
The constitution shall go into effect as soon as the Registered Student Organization status of CCC is approved by UW Student Activities Office.
