I'm a second-year graduate student in the Quantitative Ecology and Resource Management (QERM) program.
I'm working with Jim Anderson on creating a model for the oceanic migration of salmon. My project will create a model that combines advection by ocean currents with fish swimming behavior to model trajectories of salmon. In particular, we are interested in spring run chinook returning to the Columbia River, including the effects of interannual variability in ocean currents and possible direction of approach, as well as comparing spring run and fall run chinook salmon.
