Name: Choclit' Angel A.K.A. "Mocha" member of the VP3

"I am a nineteen-year-old sophomore here at the University of Washington. I graduated from Franklin High school where I participated in ASB, the cheer squad, the dance team, the track team, Bible study, and other groups. I am a Member of New Covenant Christian Center where I am involved in the Community Outreach Ministry and the "Life Givers" ministry. I like participating in every aspect of music from writing to composing to vocal arrangements.I think going to movies as much as possible is just dandy, and I greatly enjoy intellectual INNERcourse (not INTERcourse, get your mind right). I am absolutely and without a doubt in love with the Egyptian pyramids and heiroglyphics, can't read it for squat, but I like it!"

Year: Sophomore

Major: Political Science

What do you hope to achieve in your position this year: I hope to bridge the geographical gap between the black community on campus and the black community of the greater Seattle (possibly other cities) area. BSU was created by our people to advance our people, not just our campus community. I want to make the talents and services of BSU, which are are to be used for the education and elevation of our people, to be open to working for and supporting our black community in any area we have enough funding and skill to get to.

One piece of advice for new students: Use the Instructional Center!!

What do you love about the UW: All the sheltered white people who ask me if I am an athlete, because I couldn't possibly be here on academics.

What is an issue that you are passionate about: Our black brothers being thrown into prisons at alarming rates, being treated as if they have no rights, pulled over for a DWB (Driving while Black), legislation being put into place that singles them out (see manditory minimums)so that they can be sent to privatized prisons and make some corporate yuppie $30,000 a day by doing the type of labor that we thought was only over seas, being forged into animalistic situations that would turn any well rounded human being into a terrific horror bent on survival. We barely make up 12% of America while making up more than 85% of prisons, folks tell us not to pull the race card while they're playing with a full deck. Brothers cant even get a degree in prison (it's not even about correction anymore) and society expects them to just reintergrate with no problem after steppin out of a concrete jungle.

Random "Know Me Homie" Fact. I love dogs!
