Edwards "Hi, my name is Melissa and I just turned 20 this past September. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, but I've been in Washington for five years now and I'm slightly homesick. I have a twin sister named Melony, and no we are not identical (we're actually complete opposites), who attends Le Cordon Blue Western Culinary School. I also have a little brother named Mark and an older sister who's engaged named Keisha (yeah!!). I graduated from Kent-Meridian High School where for four years I ran track, cross country and gymnastics and was also an active member and/or officer of Key Club, Honors Society, and Peer Mediation. I'm definitely a people person (and I am a phone fanatic!) and my favorite color is blue. Later this year, I hope to travel abroad and utilize my knowledge of the French language somewhere in Africa. I look forward to an exciting year with BSU and that's about all there is to M.E." Year: Junior Major: Biochemistry and Biology, Music Minor What do you hope to achieve in your position this year: This year I hope to create an organized and efficient means of obtaining and tracking funds for the BSU. I hope to facilitate the elevation of our financial status so that our potential to do outreach is not limited by funding. One piece of advice for new students: Since Childhood has no real end and adulthood has no real beginning, one must find a balance within each. What do you love about the UW: Hmmm...tough question. There's so many things I enjoy and take for granted here, but I the only thing I truly love about UW is that there is a Gospel Choir here on campus. That one class just makes me happy thinking about it. The professor, music, everything about it gives me something to love the UW for. What is an issue that you are passionate about: I'm passionate about seeing and supporting the success of the Black community particularly Black children in school. I hope to play a more active and influential role in this movement. Random "Know Me Homie" Fact. My close friends call me Siete (the Spanish word for 7), and if you don't know why yet, you'll know when you meet me.
