"La Merica" - Some Little-Known History

Ever heard of the Knights Templar? The Knights Templar was a powerful secret society which faced the pope's crusade against non-catholic religious entities in the early 1300's. The Templars are said to have held esoteric knowledge from ancient times concerning lost art forms, architecture, treasure, and the bloodline of Christ. Some of the beliefs of the Templars were borrowed from the Mandaeans, a sect which existed during the times of Christ on the banks of the Jordan River. The Mandaeans believed that good people would go to a paradise across the ocean when they died. They named the heavenly place "Merica."
When pressure from the pope took the form of military action, the Templars took to the seas. Historians Knight and Lomas concluded that the Templars sailed from Portugal to what they called la Merica in 1308. They support their statement based on an engraving in Westford, MA, which bears a knight in 14th century garb. Also, in Newpord, RI, a tower was found which exhibits traditional Templar architecture.
Whether or not the Knights Templar actually landed in "la Merica," they are certainly responsible for the name America. You may have already known that Amerigo Vespucci has nothing to do with it. A German monk had heard about the name America and later heard about Vespucci - the monk concluded that America must have been named after the famous Italian explorer. After hearing the la Merica story however, the monk rescinded his statement about Vespucci and admitted he actually had no basis for what he had written.
As the figting between the pope's armies and the Templars carried on, the Templars focused their attention on building a fleet and exploring the world. Templars in Portugal were cleared of their alleged transgressions against the church, changed their names to "Knights of Christ," and were responsible for many famous ocean voyages. Such voyages as those headed by Vasco de Gama and Christopher Columbus.
Modern descendants of the Knights Templar are The Hospitallers, Knights of Malta, Knights of Saint John, the Freemasons, and the Rosicrucians. Freemasons... ever seen one of those lists of all the politicans that are freemasons? And how about that bit about America being heaven? Americans are now bombing the homeland of the Mandaeans.
