11-19-04:
Stay up late and fall asleep with The X-Files on, wake up early and fall asleep at an astronomy midterm.
Ok so I didn't fall asleep but I came close. I did, however, fall asleep in computer science. I swear that guy
could sell recordings of his lectures as sleep aids. It's funny that the only time I half listen to this guy
is when he isn't talking about programming. He was on this long tangent about personality types (since we're
supposed to be drafting a program that takes answers from a personality test and classifies you as an introvert, extrovert,
intuitive, serial killer, whatever) and I found myself actually paying attention in class.
In fact, very few other lectures I've ever witnessed have come close
to how interesting this was. The point is, I don't care much for psychology, but steering away from the drivel
about objects and static methods was heaven in comparisson. Computer science is a means to an end. What end?
I have no clue whatsoever. People say to make something meaningful of these awful mechanisms that we're supposed
to endure in order to prove ourselves in the world. Give me one solid way that CS could ever have meaning in my life or
future or make me feel better about myself
and I'll give you $10, or some whiskey, or $10 worth of whiskey.
I'm a bleeding-heart liberal:
Walking home today I found myself drawn to a rally in Red Square. It was all about how awful war is and why
we need to do all these great things to end war and fund education.
Basically I see it this way, in terms of love and hate:
Republicans Love: Jesus, money, themselves, inequality, WAR.
Republicans Hate: Queers, minorities, bleeding-heart liberals, fairness, change.
Democrats Love: Everybody.
Democrats Hate: Nobody, inequality, corporate welfare, greed, corruption, WAR.
