Officer Positions

The officer positions are all-year-long commitments, with different officers having greater and lesser levels of responsibility during different quarters. While each officer position does have some specific duties (listed below), there is a lot of overlap; there are many tasks, listed and unlisted, that are shared by all officers.

Managing Editor
Coordinates officers and recruits members; creates and adheres to production timeline.

PR Officer
Develops publicity campaign, including postering, distribution of handbills, and tabling; works with editors and production officer to advertise for readers, submissions, and special events (like the Annual Writers Workshop and the annual reading). Really an ideal position for an energetic underclassperson who might continue as an editor the following year and would benefit from learning the ins and outs of campus publicity and organization.

Production/Design Editor
Designs ads and posters; designs and implements layout for issue. Candidates for this position should provide examples of their design skills/prowess at the election.

Fiction Editor
Recruits readers during fall quarter; leads fiction group in selecting fiction submissions to be published during winter quarter. Keeps track of all of the fiction submissions.

Poetry Editor
Recruits readers during fall quarter; leads poetry group in selecting poetry submissions to be published during winter quarter. Keeps track of all of the poetry submissions.

Art Editor
Position as of 2007-2008 year, and certainly subject to development. Duties are similar to those of the Fiction and Poetry Editors, but it would be great to see an expansion of the focus and understanding of visual art as represented in Bricolage. Connections to art community at UW definitely a plus.
