About UsThe Book Arts Interest Group explores the history of paper, ancient and
modern writing techniques, the construction and craft of binding books, and the innovative artwork
of modern book artists who explore the limits of the question "What is a book?" The group also promotes
an awareness of the power of independent publishing and the important role of libraries in supporting
and preserving book arts. We organize workshops, lectures, and field trips that focus on the creative and
technical aspects of book and paper arts, often in cooperation with other local artists and
organizations. Founded by iSchool Library and Information Science students, the organization is open to
anyone in the UW community interested in book arts. Bookarts is joining with iArts. To learn more about
our plans email us at iarts@u.washington.edu.
