EVENTS

Monthly BLSA Meetings & Committees

Every month, BLSA members and committees convene to plan upcoming events and outreach; to exchange ideas and information about the UW law school and legal profession; and to clarify goals for the organization.

“Legal Perspective Series"

A quarterly lecture series, which provides a forum for discourse on the legal profession, controversial decisions, and similar topics among legal professionals and students. Past speakers have included: Craig Sims, Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, King County Prosecuting Attorneys Office; Judge Richard Jones, King County Superior Court.

Black History Month Commemorative Events

During Black History Month, BLSA develops and presents events which highlight and celebrate features of Black culture and significant events in Black history. Past events have included "lunch and a movie," and a "Brown v. the Board of Education" presentation.

Community Lectures

For a number of years, BLSA has participated in organizing and hosting local events for University, legal, and general community members. Past events in which BLSA has participated include a reenactment of "Brown v. Board of Education" and a debate on the "Racial Wealth Divide."
