Opportunities
Alpha Chi Sigma is a unique organization that unites the values of education and social experiences. With both collegiate and professional chapters, opportunities for members include participation during college as well as continued support during their professional careers. Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity offers opportunities to develop friendships, get involved in leadership, participate in community service activities, enjoy social events, and network with students and alumni of similar interests.
Our organization is made up of a diverse group of members, who share the common experience of science education. Specifically at UW, we have all sat in the huge General Chemistry lectures in Bagley Hall, and been taught by many of the same professors. Alpha Chi Sigma is a perfect place to meet new people who you already have something in common with! You have the opportunity to meet great study buddies, and develop lifelong friendships.
Alpha Chi Sigma provides a great framework to express and develop your leadership skills. A variety of officer positions are held by members who work to organize our group in weekly Chapter meetings and toward larger goals. It is because of the contributions and involvement of each member that our Chapter grows and makes things happen!
Alpha Chi Sigma values giving back to the community, and participates in a variety of volunteer activities. Recent service projects include volunteering at elementary school sciences fairs and NW Harvest. We also participate anually in the Relay for Life.
Our members also know how to have fun, and enjoy many social events as a group. Some things we like to do are have BBQs, movie nights, go bowling, play softball, go to local sports games (Mariners, Sonics...hope to see you again some time, etc.), go camping, carve pumpkins, and plan ceremonies to unite members in the brotherhood of the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity.
Opportunties for personal development and continued support as a member of Alpha Chi Sigma do not end with college graduation. As a professional chemistry fraternity, alumni and professional brothers remain in contact with collegiate chapters to create a strong network of resources and referrences.
