Archives & Preservation Careers

(sponsored by APC): Come hear about careers in archives and preservation, including career paths in a variety of archival settings, traditional repositories and digital archives.

(sponsored by ASIS&T): Blane A., manager of the CIA Library, will discuss job opportunities, the role of the library at CIA and in supporting the intelligence needs of the U.S. government, types of work conducted by library staff, interesting examples of direct information support and roles of librarians, the need for librarians with language skills and the general job application process and requirements.

Guide to Reference: Reinventing a classic for today's reference work (ASIS&T):

As general editor of Guide to Reference, Kieft follows in the footsteps of pioneering reference librarians, bibliographers, and teachers Alice Bertha Kroeger and Isadore Gilbert Mudge, who edited the Guide to Reference Books from 1902-1931. The Guide has historically been central to the work of reference librarians, and Kieft will be the first editor of an online Guide to Reference. Kieft will discuss how he and the editorial team are re-shaping the Guide to support today's reference librarians.
