Call for Posters
We have extended the deadline for iEdge 2007 poster proposals to Friday, March 16. If you’re interested in presenting a poster at the reception, please send an email with a few details about your topic to asis@u.washington.edu. This opportunity is available to students, staff, faculty and alumni. This is a great chance to show off work you’ve done or are thinking about doing for a class, a project at work or an independent study!
Posters should be a visual representation of original research or work you
have done, either as an individual or as a group, that relates to one of the
three tracks. Please see below for more information about the three tracks.
Anyone in the UW community is eligible to apply to present a poster, including
students, faculty, staff and alumni. Posters can vary in size but should probably
be at least 2’ x 3’ and small enough not to knock over a poster
stand! Poster presenters will need to be available during the poster session
to answer questions about their posters. Posters will be selected by a panel
of judges based on appropriateness to the theme of the conference. Basically,
anything about information will work!
We have space for up to 25 presenters, so if you put together a solid application,
it’s very likely that your proposal will be accepted. This is a great
chance to show off your work, let faculty and potential employers know what
you’re interested in and, for LIS students, knock off one more of those
portfolio categories!
To submit a poster proposal, please email a description of your poster (around
500 words) to asis@u.washington.edu.
Poster proposals are due by 5:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2007.
We will announce the list of accepted proposals by Friday, March 9, 2007.
Final posters are not due until the conference begins; however, we would like
to have a PDF of the final poster by March 25, 2007, for posting on the iEdge
2007 website.
If you’ve never been to a poster session, the IA Summit website has
some examples at http://www.iasummit.org/2006/posters.htm.
Some possible topics include capstone project ideas, group projects from your
classes, thesis ideas, projects you’ve been working on for a job, etc.
You can describe work or research you’ve already done, work that’s
in progress or work you’re thinking about doing. Remember that this
is a low-key way to get some experience presenting a poster. Feel free to
experiment!
Please contact Betsy Rolland
if you have any questions.
