About iEdge
The world of technology and information science changes so quickly, it's a huge challenge to keep up. iEdge can help. The iEdge mission is to provide a forum where students research and share information about cool stuff in the areas of technology, information science and the library world.
As a culminating event for the student group iEdge, Kathleen Walsh & Betsy Rolland received funding to organize a half-day iSchool Conference. The theme of the conference is iEdge2007: So What? Research into Practice and the mission is to help students and information professionals understand how information science research can be integrated into and leveraged in professional life. We have three tracks planned: Information is Social, Information is People and Information is Practical. The conference will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the HUB on the UW campus. There will be a keynote speaker – Stu Weibel – and sessions from noon until 6:00 PM. From 6:00-8:00 PM, we will be having a reception and poster session.
Overview of the three tracks:
-
Information is Social:
The mission of the Information is Social track is to teach attendees to leverage research in order to create connections, relationships and learning opportunities through information. -
Information is People:
The mission of the Information is People track is to teach attendees to leverage research to design systems that empower people. -
Information is Practical:
The mission of the Information is Practical track is to teach attendees to leverage research to enhance their day-to-day professional lives and envision information solutions for the future.
