About Me
So, yeah, I'm Asbereth Susanto. People call me Andree, even though technically it should be A.N.D.R.E.E because I've got a long ass name, and most (normal) people just wouldn't bother remembering all of my middle names, beautiful they may be. Just in case you're curious (I know you all are), my full name is Asbereth Nicodemus Demetriel Ramsakus Eneas Embargiel (A.N.D.R.E.E.) Susanto. If you're wondering why I have so many middle names, well, seriously, how uncommon is it to have more than one middle names? Well, look up 'Kiefer Sutherland' in wikipedia. Or 'Wolfgang Mozart'. Or 'Paracelsus'. I could come up with some more examples, but you got the drift, didn't you? It is actually not that uncommon for people to have more than two middle names, so I don't think there is anything particularly peculiar with me having five middle names. I'm a graduate student of the Aeronautics and Astronautics department at the University of Washington. I spend most of my time doing simulations, mathematical modelling (or banging my head against the wall when things don't work) or learning about plasma, because that's what my research project is supposed to be about (check the 'Research Projects' section for more details). The best way to describe me is as follows: 'I'm a grad student who lives in the lab, who takes bath in the campus gym, who lives off free food from socials and instant ramen, and who 'borrows' umbrellas from nearby shopping centers (Alderwood, U-Village, Southcenter, Northgate, Lincoln Square, you name it)'. All of the stereotypes of graduate students you can find from the phdcomics.com (courtesy of Dr. Cham) apply to me, but hopefully I won't end up spending as many years as Dr. Slackenerny did in graduate school. I, like everyone else, love food, obviously especially when it is free. I graduated from the Aeronautics and Astronautics department at the University of Washington (UWAA hereinafter) in June 2007, and I actually thought of specializing in Fluid Mechanics in graduate school, hopefully doing some research in turbulence. But things were not meant to be, and I ended up having to specialize in plasma. But then again, life does not always go to where I want it to, and this is just but one example of such cases. But plasma is cool (well, technically, it's hot), and I realize that one can always be interested in things that one doesn't think one would be able to if one tries hard enough. And I think there is more to life than superficiality (I'm superficial to an extent by the way). Ah well, whatever. Enough of my spiel. |
