May 8, 2006 — Meeting Minutes

[PDF file]

Pending approval/corrections at next APC meeting:

Attendees: Abigail (Abby) Bass, Carolyn Dunford, Woods Fairbanks, Rose McLendon, Megan Peacock, Janet Polata, Melinda (Mindy) Snarr, Colleen Stevenson

  1. Review of the APC Digital Music Archiving Panel
    • We had a great turnout – approximately 30 people – and several from other departments on campus.
    • It was noted that the panel represented a broad range of sectors and experience, which made for a well-balanced and interesting discussion.
    • Abby mentioned that it would be good to have these events recorded for those who cannot attend, especially for Distance students. Abby also noted that this would also make ALISS more amenable to supporting our events. There was some discussion about our difficulties in the past in coordinating this (getting permission prior to the event and having someone available to handle the video/audio recording).

  2. Congratulations to our new APC Officers!
    • Co-Chairs: Melinda Snarr and Michelle Vallance
    • Marketing/Publicity Officer: Colleen Stevenson
    • Secretary: Abigail Bass
    • Webmaster: Spencer Lamm
    • Distance Liaison: David Junius

Current APC Officers are delighted that such a strong and enthusiastic team will lead APC next year!

  3. Samuel Brylawski APC Talk on May 16th (Carolyn)
    • Colleen is designing the poster in consultation with Jeff Teitelbaum (2nd year MLIS)

  4. APC Randall Jimerson / Sarah Nelson Talk on May 8th (Woods and Rose)
    • Discussion of last minute details

  5. Request to APC from the iSchool Office of Student and Academic Services (Carolyn)
    • APC has been asked to provide 170 flyers/brochures for the MLIS/dMLIS Orientation in Autumn 2006
    • Carolyn described the materials and displays we had provided last Autumn (APC flyer, signup sheet for the APC email listserv, an APC banner, and a laptop computer with the APC website)

  6. Transitional Meeting for new APC Officers (Carolyn)
    • June 5th or 6th seemed to be good days for this meeting. Carolyn will send an email to current APC Officers with some ideas for coordination and agenda. Carolyn suggested that an email should be sent to current and newly elected officers to solicit agenda items.
    • Carolyn will send a reminder note to current APC Officers regarding transitional information checklists.
    • Carolyn would like to schedule a separate meeting with Spencer Lamm, the incoming APC Webmaster, to discuss the details of managing the APC website.

Secretary: Carolyn Dunford
