Pending approval/corrections at next APC meeting:
Attendees: Carolyn Dunford, Rose McLendon, Lorraine Thomas, Michelle Vallance, Linda Wagner, Jeff Winter
- Approved Minutes from the October 17, 2005 meeting.
- Michelle Vallance talked about her previous archives experience with the Arizona Historical Society in Tucson. She spoke on her work with the photo collections regarding the history of the Arizona Historical Society and the issues she faced while working at a non-profit archives.
- Discussed the position of the Distance Liaison. Rose wanted a fleshed-out position description that she could take to interested distance students. Duties mentioned included:
- Gather & direct potential distance DFW contacts through distance liaison to Marie Potter.
- Set up field trips within distance cities for the students in those cities by appointing a nearby contact person.
- Set up contacts for conferences (future housing stay options?), job hunting, etc.
- Distributed flyers for Home Movie Night.
- Everything is good to go.
- Discussed iCareer Week The need to secure a day for iCareer Week was mentioned. Carolyn said that she would talk to Julie at Dale Chihuly Studio about being a panelist. Linda said that she would send an e-mail to the Archives listserv requesting help for iCareer week.
- Publicity. For this discussion, everyone decided that we’ll need Woods. The need to create more positions was discussed, especially a publicity officer and a secretary. All officers felt overburdened by taking on all responsibilities. The discussion was tabled until Woods was in attendance.
- Funding. As to the funds requested from ALISS, we have not heard back yet. Have found out that ASUW does not pay for banner costs, but only for specific events, such as parking reimbursement for guest speakers or room fees.
- Webmaster:
- Woods found the APC constitution; Carolyn will put it up on the website.
- Carolyn has established folders on the N drive on the iSchool computers. This is a place for future officers to access minutes, images, etc. in the coming years.
- There now exists a ReadMe doc for future officers/admin stuff.
- Next meeting: November 28, 2005 at 4pm, MGH 310D.
