- The group welcomed new attendees Jane and Noni.
- Jen reported on turning in paperwork to SAO to become a registered student group with the UW. John E, as the first of five to sign the application, will receive official notices from SAO. Our URL and listerv info will be changing. We will continue to refer to ourselves as [Proposed] SAA.
- Mary updated us on the survey. She incorporated our comments and will look into posting the survey link to the iannounce list.
- J.P. got additional information from Lynnea on student enrollment in archives-related courses at the iSchool. The numbers are encouraging! She will send the table she created as an attachment to Beth, who will post it to our website.
- Ideas and a timeframe for our initial SAA event were discussed. We decided on hosting a panel of area archivists, to be held at MGH 420 in February, some evening Mon-Thurs, around 5 pm. Gene said John Bolcer, our advisor, has contacts and would like to help us plan. Jen would like to include Marsha Maguire (SAA member, UW Special Materials cataloger, former librarian at Library of Congress and EMP). Jane will look into reserving the room.
- Beth will be updating the website and wants help designing a logo. Scott offered to do this.
- Gene said John Bolcer belongs to the regional group Northwest Archivists, and he edits the group newsletter Easy Access. He recommends that we join, membership fee is only $15. (For more info, go here: http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/archives/misc/nwa.html)
- Noni will lead the next meeting, to be held November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in 231 MGH.
