  • Where and When Do You Shoot?
The UW archery club range is located at the IMA. The Intramural Sports Building is located on Southeast campus, by Husky Stadium. Take a look at the Times and Schedule page for a list of Open Shoot and club shoot times.

I've never shot before -- should I bother coming down?
By all means! Most of the people that come down on Fridays generally haven't shot before, and that is how many of the club regulars and officers started out in the first place! Many folks come down because a friend recommended us, or they've seen a poster. We've all gotta start somewhere! You'll be in good (err, bad?) company, so don't worry about not being a national champion or some such thing.

What does it cost to shoot?
Our Open Shoots on Fridays are 100% free. You'll be lent a bow, arrows, and safety equipment on a first-come, first-serve basis. You'll also get a safety lecture as well as some basic lessons on shooting and some coaching.

    What is an Open Shoot?
Open shoots take place on Fridays, and are open to all current students, staff, and faculty of the university. Shooting is free, and you will be lent equipment for free as well. They are generally relaxed and casual. We usually have a tape and CD player on hand, as well as some grub. We welcome all abilities!

Do I need to be a student to try open shoot?
Staff and faculty are welcome to shoot just like students. All staff, faculty, and current students need only their school ID or IMA membership card.

Do I need my own equipment?
Nope! We can provide you with equipment for free during any of our shoots, whether you are a member or not, and even if it's your first try at the sport. All we need is your school ID. You'll be given a bow, arrows, quiver, and safety equipment. After a short time, members may be able to get their hands on some of the more expensive and cool target equipment.

I've got my own bow -- can I bring it?
The general answer is "yes". We'll give it a glance to make sure its safe to shoot. Compound bow shooters will have to crank their bow down to 60lbs or less. We don't allow broadheads, blunts, judos, or wire-loop heads. We prefer that compound bow shooters shoot fat-shafts, as a bag target isn't always available. To make sure we can accommodate you, e-mail us before you bring your equipment, please.

    How Do I Join?
To become a member, just come see us, fill out a waiver, pay the dues eventually and you are in!

Joining the club lets you come down to shoot at the IMA on Mondays and Wednesdays, in addition to the open shoots on Fridays. During Spring and Summer, at the behest of our Overlord and as weather permits, members are able to join us for outdoor shoots at the Kenmore Gun Ranges' FITA or 3-D field. Membership costs $25 per academic year, payable to the club.
