The Fire at Will Husky Archery Club at the University of Washington is basically a bunch of people that like to shoot. We have many different skill levels join our club. Some members have yet to pick up a bow prior to joining, but like the idea of shooting a bow. Others are quite experienced and have their own equipment. Still others have shot a number of times at the Friday Night Open Shoots, which we help run, and wish to enjoy shooting with others while developing their skills. Club membership is open to currently enrolled UW students, and faculty / staff members who have paid the IMA Facility Use Fee. In order to join, you must fill out an IMA Club Sports waiver form. There is a club due of $25/academic year (quite a deal). You do not have to pay the dues the first time you shoot - ask an officer for more information about this. So why join, you ask?
- Shoot Mondays and Wednesdays at the IMA (see Schedule link for specific times).
- Use club equipment, which include Olympic style take-down recurve bows.
- Get one-on-one instruction from our experienced club officers.
- Meet Angus, our archery coach. Although just talking to him is really an honor of its own, he also gives invaluable instruction.
- Easy access to tournaments during the summer, if you wish to test your skills.
- Learn all aspects of archery, from FITA scoring to making bow strings.
